Water and Classrooms for All

Access to water, classrooms, and proper sanitation is important to the success of all our programs. This is a big challenge in the Kenya Drylands of Marsabit and Samburu Counties.

KDEF works to ensure access to classrooms, clean water, and decent latrines. KDEF also responds through water trucking deliveries during dry seasons and emergencies.

Because water is scarce and much of the underground water in the region contaminated, KDEF works together with local communities for solutions. Rain harvesting systems such as rock catchments, and masonry tanks for storage are being built. KDEF is committed to making sure the people of the Drylands have the water they need for drinking cooking, and staying healthy.

Generous donations have made possible the purchase of a KDEF water truck to supply schools and villages.

KDEF is constructing and equipping classrooms, kitchens, and latrines to ensure that students have a conducive learning environment.
